All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was involved in an intense battle on the field on the last day of the Lord's Test against England, strangely left the field just moments before Tea. At one moment, it looked like the hosts would win the game in canter, as they took four wickets in the first session. However, the southpaw was not ready to give up and showed the stomach for the fight. He first shared a valiant 10th-wicket partnership with Bumrah and later bought the target down to 20s with Siraj. In the end, it was not enough as India went fighting down, with Jadeja showing an extreme amount of grit and determination to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

The hosts, with a 2-1 lead in the series, head into the fourth Test with a massive psychological advantage. It was a collective effort from the hosts, which first started with Root and later culminated with skipper Stokes taking three wickets in the second innings. The southpaw was also the player of the match for his valuable knocks of 44 & 33 runs, to go with five wickets and a crucial first innings run out of Pant in the first innings.
