After Harbhajan Singh's interest in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President role, the names of ex-cricketers RP Singh and Pragyan Ojha are also circulating as the likely candidates to be included in the Senior Men's Selectors panel. While there is no official confirmation from the two experts or their respective state associations, reports suggest the two former Indian players may participate in the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Notably, September 28 is the date for the AGM. However, this year's AGM might not take place as that is also the date of the Asia Cup 2025 final. If India reaches the finals of the tournament, then all the board members will be in Dubai to watch the match. It looks likely that the Men in Blue will reach the final, owing to their form and dominance in the ongoing Continental Cup.

Apart from the President role, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint-Secretary Selectors for Men's Women's, and Treasurer roles need to be filled. Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar's name cropped up for the BCCI President role. However, the legendary batter denied the rumors. After that, Harbhajan's name also came up, with the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) nominating him for the AGM.

RP Singh & Pragan Ojha's names spice up AGM

While both Ojha and RP Singh have not officially given a yes about their likely participation in AGM, a report by Express Sport suggests the two former cricketers might contest for Senior Men's Selection Panel. Currently, the selection panel led by Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has two candidates from East Zone One of them, or two from the current selection might have to quit. However, it remains to be seen if Ojha, or RP gets selected for Selection panel for the next two-year cycle.

If the AGM does not take place, then the winner will be unanimously judged on the basis of voting. While it is confirmed that the incumbent President, Roger Binny, will resign from the role, Devajit Saikia (BCCI Secretary) and Rajeev Shukla (Vice-President) are likely to continue with their respective roles.
